What is Infertility?

Infertility is the inability to conceive a child after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse. It can affect both men and women and can be due to a variety of factors. Understanding infertility and its causes is the first step towards finding a solution.

Causes of Infertility

  1. Ovulation Disorders: Issues with ovulation can prevent eggs from being released from the ovaries. This can be caused by hormonal imbalances, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or thyroid problems.
  2. Fallopian Tube Damage: Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes can prevent sperm from reaching the egg. This can result from pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, or previous surgeries.
  3. Uterine or Cervical Issues: Abnormalities in the uterus or cervix, such as fibroids or polyps, can interfere with implantation or sperm travel.
  4. Age: As women age, the quality and quantity of their eggs decline, making conception more difficult.
